Happy 2021! Don’t Water Seeds of Negativity!

Happy New Year! Happy 2021! Happy Do-Over!

Life gets the best of us at times because it brings challenges, unexpected news, rearrangement of living, and so many other incidents and situations. It is in those moments that we have to pause, ponder, and pray. If it were not for faith, we could easily give in to the dark side of our minds. We could succumb to a place of hopelessness, a place of fearfulness, and a place of negativity because, in our weakness, we choose to believe in these things. In a conversation with a friend about unfulfilled dreams, untapped potential, joys, highs, lows, disappointments, and comedic moments, I envisioned our lives as a garden. Our life is a place that grows good foods for nutrition because it comes from good roots. When produce is good, we savor every morsel and sometimes take for granted that it is plentiful. Periodically produce withers and rots because of things beyond our control or because we did not take the time to water and nurture the roots for growth. Sometimes overwatering, too much soil, and lack of fertilizer can stifle growth. Have you ever thought about your life in this way? Have you ever thought about the rough and tough times as a garden being strangled by weeds (the enemy)? Let’s change our garden as we walk into 2021!

This year, disallow weeds (the enemy) to stifle you and to make you believe that the present situation is all there is to your life. Refuse to give in to the silence in your mind because it only leads to delusions and untruths. Never fear reaching out, but believe that there will be a hand that reaches back to grab you. Do not carry burdens or take on the burdens of others because you will eventually suffocate. Spend more time in prayer, and strengthen your relationship with God. This year, step out of your comfort zone and walk into the calling that uses your gift(s). Going forward, plant new seeds; water and nurture them to help strengthen and maintain the roots. Take time and care of yourself. In all of this, don’t water the seeds of negativity!
