Visions of Grandeur

Living the dream,

Surviving the past,

Embracing the future,

With renewed hope and promise,

Allowing generational and historical wounds to heal,

Knowing that this era will be history,

And the promises of tomorrow will ripen,

In the midst of chaos and condemnation,

Overcoming violence and anarchy,

To paint a path of order,

And capitalize on a promissory note,

And cash a check for our inheritance,

Bringing into fruition the urgency of our times,

While squashing national fatalism,

And imposed righteous indignation,

That tip the scales of rest and tranquility,

That demonize and legitimize disruption and discord,

Ringing out a need for change,

From the storms of persecution and rains of brutality,

Believing in our allegiance to one nation under God,

Removing the shackles of inequity,

Not hiding behind the shadows of gender, class, and ethnicity,

But standing firm in the belief that ALL men are created equal,

So that as I stand on this mountaintop,

Looking at the vast ocean of hues,

I find my peace in the moral foundation of its existence.
