The Warrior in Me

I believe, and in my weariness

My thoughts prevail nothing good

And the emptiness turns into

Dark, impure thoughts that avail nothing

And so the battle begins and it rages

And I become a soldier to its cause.

But I know….

You O Lord have made me

You O God know who I am

You extend your arms and call me by name

So I rise and fight with the warrior in me

Forgetting who I am,

Falling into traps of doubt,

Alone in emotions, feeling rejected,

Drowning in the ashes of the enemy’s cauldron

Seething in dust, confusion, and separation

Is there no redemption from this?

But I know….

You O Lord have made me

You O God know who I am

You extend your arms and call me by name

So I rise and fight with the warrior in me.

Knowing your way

And knowing my place

Accomplishing your will in prayer and in this place

For the road is long and the battle is hard

But you O Lord have prepared me for what lies ahead

Not giving into a spirit to fear

I wrap myself in the armor of Your truth

Because I know ….

You O Lord have made me

You O God know who I am

You extend your arms and call me by name

So I rise and fight with the warrior in me.

You O Lord have made me

You O God know who I am

You extend your arms and call me by name

So I rise and fight with the warrior in me.
